Braggot
A hybrid beverage that combines mead with beer. It can be made by blending mead and beer or by fermenting a mixture of honey and malted grains.
Bochet
Honey is caramelized by raising the temperature to boiling.
Capsicumel
Capsicumel typically refers to any mead that uses a spicy pepper during brewing.
Metheglin
This mead is flavored with spices or herbs, such as cinnamon, cloves, ginger, or herbs like mint or thyme. The spices or herbs are added during or after fermentation.
Melomel
A type of mead that includes fruit. Examples include cherry mead, raspberry mead, or apple mead. The fruit can be added during fermentation or after.
Mulled
“Heated.” Mulled Mead is typically warmed in a crock pot or at medium heat.
Pyment
This mead is made by blending honey with grape juice or wine. It often has flavors reminiscent of both wine and mead.
Rhodomel
Concocted with rosehips, rose petals or rose attar.
Traditional Mead
This is the simplest form of mead, made from just honey, water, and yeast. It highlights the flavors of the honey used.
Cyser
A specific type of mead that combines honey and apple juice or cider. It can vary from sweet to dry depending on the ratio and fermentation process.
Sparkling Mead
Carbonated Mead that can be naturally or artificially carbonated. It has a fizzy, refreshing quality.
